When Nata contacted me about being paired up for the Ripped Off show, I was instantly drawn to her piece, "Ravages of Time" about middle age crisis! I turn 40 this year, so can understand where she is coming from. I played around with inks, then decided to add watercolor pencil and some gouache. Of course, I had to put in the spirals which I'm known for.
I like to think of my piece as joining the past with the present, rather than cutting out what has been. I think that the only constant we can be sure of in life is change, and sometimes that change is both sharp, and bloody, but we endure, and who we were is always there as a shadow of who we are now.
