Prospectus
A salute to Dr. Seuss! His characters and stories are distinctive in both image and word. They are much loved by the young and the young-at-heart. They are classics, icons and mainstays of the bedtime reading ritual.
This Seussian salute has something of a twist. This is not an "in the style of" show but rather a "how would you do it?" show. This show is about you taking the immeadiately recognizable works of Theodor Geisel and rendering them in your own style. This is a chance for you to give the world Dr. Seuss as you see him. Every style is welcome except for that which is recognizably Dr. Seuss.
Re-imagining Seuss: "A NOT In The Style Of" Show is open to all media. An artist's statement is required with every entry. This statement should include information about the character/story you have chosen and its importance to you. Tell us about your materials, process and something about why you chose to represent your subject in the manner or media that you did. Your statement is an important element in presenting your work online and helps make your work more accessible for the viewer. As texture or other small elements may be pivotal to the piece, detail shots are encouraged. Eligible entries need to meet all points of the prospectus.
