I like the gentle texture of the coral, emerging next to the shells, all around the luscious Murano glass heart at the center, contrasted by golden pearls. And then I love how it's all half buried in this red clay, representing our heart's belonging to the earth. There is something of a taste of courage in this piece, as if I wanted to crown and celebrate my heart and everyone else's. Red, gold and silver. Christmas again. Or maybe the first Christmas of the rest of our lives. Does it matter, how we experience this day, or any day? We may be baffled, confused, exhausted...but our heart fills with hope, always, alive, brilliant, precious. Christmas is a celebration of our heart.
