This is the medium sized piece in my Santa Star Box set. As you can see, it's a box. You can put stuff in it. I usually keep it full of goodies that keep me as round as Santa. Santa is not just for kids. He's for all who want to remember smiles, giving and simple playful fun. I keep mine out all year. Traditional Tole painting has a meditative quality, when doing it. There's a rhythm and a sense of order to it. It's often looked upon with disdain as "method" painting, but I've found it takes just as much determination and practice as a fine portraitist. It's the only technique I've had to take a class for.
