At some point in time, the gas station which was home to this object, was knocked down, probably for lack of business and for some reason, the naked skeleton of the gas pump with the amount of the last recorded sale remained.

The abandoned old pump probably has many stories to tell of the people, cars, and times gone by that were present in it's life. I wonder what it could tell us of the last person to churn up it's gears for the final time, leaving it's very innards exposed for eternity for all to see ?

When printing this photograph, I purposely elected to use a sepia tone to add to the feeling of age in this original photo.

In reality, this object I chose to photograph stood on Route 110 between the White Hills in Shelton, CT and the Blue Hills in Monroe, CT where I make my residence.
