This topic also included the *art* of mosaics. Was it art? Was it Craft? Then that *F* word reared its ugly head... If it is FUNCTIONAL, can it be art???
Whatever. I just do what I like and what makes me happy. Call it what you want. Considering my *art* sells quickly, I assume it makes others feel good as well.
Gleaning from the conversation someones opinion... if you use it- it is functional and to them, function is not art. If it is made just to be looked at or hung on the wall then it is indeed, art.
Hmmmm. So that gorgeous mosaic coffee table that took hours and hours isn't art? Yet, that canvas it took the cat 20 seconds to walk across with paint on its paws is? And, on that same theory if I put that mosaic on the table in a frame and hang it on the wall it is considered ART?
Debates like these are never truly settled, long after the subject is changed it just hangs like skunk spray
So... I gathered I need to put mosaic in a frame to be considered a REAL artist.
Here you have it... I even titled it so it could be taken seriously... Rose China Enchantment by ARTIST Elizabeth Willhite.
I found this antique gesso frame. I took the real art out which was a poorly done landscape and glued down some pieces of old broken dishes, didn't use my glue gun like other crafts but I did throw in some fine powdered cement like stuff mixed with water to fill the spaces in..
