"Beach Girl" was inspired by my original watercolor painting of my grandaughter playing in the sand on a sunny day at the beach.

In this piece, I tried to achieve an impressionistic effect using a simplified image for the subject . In the sandy area surrounding her, I selected larger pieces of glass with color and visual texture resembling damp beach sand.

Beach Girl" was entered (and won) an online mosaic competition "Soaking Up The Sun". It also received a Patron's Mention in one of EBSQ's monthly competitions. "Beach Girl" was featured in the CD album "Mosaic Art 2, an International Portfolio of Contemporary Mosaic Art from 2006.
