This drawing was done specifically for the "Mid Century Modern Chic" art show. I spent time thinking about what represented mid century modern the best to me, and ladies fashion was it! I chose Natalie Wood in a patterned bikini because she looks very chic and is a great example of my favorite retro fashion. The drawing itself was fun because highlights from the sun are bright and form an interesting contrast on her skin. The bright sun on her face may look like a lack of detail, but it's really just a lack of shadows. Overall, it was a challenging but truly enjoyable subject for an art show.
