I did it! I completed my "Clematis" on Dec. 19th, before the end of the year! Living with a chronic illness impacts my art production in difficult and good ways. For example, I didn't get this done for the Clematis exhibit this year (it was sketched out a month before). However, in all that sitting and waiting time, I was able to think about the background and came up a plan that I was excited about!

Following in my Modern Floral series, these flowing clematis are backed by a geometric modern pattern. But instead of just painting with a paintbrush, the background was done mostly with spray bottles! I had a spray bottle of water, and three spray bottles with paint and water mixed. It took many layers spraying and drying to get this look and I'm really happy with it! It's also painted on rough press paper so there is a lot of texture to this painting.
