This portrait is of a prize winning Morgan horse who has since passed adn her owners wanted a fitting tribute to her. It was done from photos sent to me by the owners. I tried to capture her soul in her eyes and to show her gentle nature and her magnificent black coat which was really a true black. He owners also wanted me to show her star whichis in the shape of Texas. This painting is a 16 x 20 inch oil on artist's canvas ahd to acheive the depth of her coat, I used a series of glazes to bring out the rich highlights. I really enjoy painting horses as well as other animals but i have a deep connection with all things horse.
