Glass as a medium creates magic. There is something about the quality of glass that we are drawn to. There are three different categories of art glass defined by the way they were created. Cold Glass consists of taking glass and creating a pattern, image or item. This method includes stained glass and sandblasted glass. Warm Glass works the glass using heat in a kiln. This method includes fused glass and slumped glass. Hot Glass uses the heat of fire to shape the glass. This method includes blown glass which uses a furnace, and lampwork, which uses the flame of a torch. All glass techniques can create pieces of exquisite beauty and sublime expression. Art created in glass is fluid and static at the same time and they never cease to capture the eye and the imagination.
If you are a glass artist, you know the magic of glass. If you have not worked in glass before, we invite you to try something new and experiment with this wonderful material. General information on the various techniques can be found here.
The "Glass" show is open to hot, cold and warm glass entries. An artist's statement is required with every entry for your work to be eligible. This statement should include information about your entry - what glass technique you used, information on your subject or what you are depicting and what prompted you to create what you did, how you did it.
If texture or other small elements are pivotal to the piece, detail shots are encouraged. Eligible entries need to meet all points of the prospectus. If you have any questions regarding the prospectus and its requirements, please send them to edu@ebsqart.com.
