When I was a kid I remember we used to have lots of flowering weeds growing along the driveway. I thought that they were great, I'd never seen so many "flowers" before in my life. My grandmother only thought of them as weeds, and insisted that the only thing to do with them was to take a weed whacker to 'em. Mushrooms were quickly disposed of, and the little flowering purple and yellow flowers that I loved so much were quickly whacked. Her garbage was my treasure, and now I intentionally grow those "weeds" in my own garden. Painted in watercolors with watercolor pencils and iridescent medium for accents on hot press watercolor paper.

Iridescent medium doesn't scan very well, but this gives you an idea.
