(This photo was taken on the beach at Florence Oregon in the summer of 2008.  The old tree stump with the roots exposed was a huge piece of driftwood that had washed ashore.  I traveled back to the same beach last summer and it was still there in all it's glory, but many smooth beach stones had wash up around it.)
