I stepped out early morning at dawn and started painting this lovely petunia that caught my eye the night before. I had been contemplating what type of petunia I would do for this show for weeks before I saw this lovely specimen. It was gorgeous, fresh and vibrant...a perfect model! I wanted to capture the dimly lit moment right before the sun popped out completely and bathed it in light. My plan was to accentuate its beautiful delicate wavy petals. I wanted this painting to be soft and romantic and to give a slight aura of mystery. Also, to capture the moment in it's purity, to be lovely enough for a beautiful frame and looked upon every morning at dawn.
