A good friend took this picture. It's a lot of fun to watch him work at getting shots like this and I like to imagine him as a little bumblebee zooming in on his favorite beautiful meal. This is one of my first pastel pieces and I am enchanted by the medium and awestruck at the work I have seen others create. I love the movement created by letting specks of the paper show through and I worked on this piece to develop my skills at letting well enough alone and not overblending. While I detest the powdery mess in the studio when I am done, I love the tactile experience of working in pastel.
