Dahlia Meaning: Dignity, elegance, good taste, instability. Origins:The dahlia was named in honor of Swedish botanist Andreas Dahl, a student of Linnaeus. They're native to Mexico and Central America. Published reports claim the Aztecs used dahlias to treat urinary difficulties. The first dahlias cultivated outside their native environment were grown in Madrid, Spain, in the late 1700s. Dahlias are members of the Compositae family, and are related to daisies. Availability and Vase Life:March through December. 7-10 days. Design Uses:The wide range of dahlia shapes makes this flower suitable for a variety of uses. Known as a summer flower, dahlias work wonderfully in garden style bouquets. Colors: Pink, lavender, red, yellow, white, bronze, purple, and some bicolor. The drawing was made in a Strathmore Artagain Paper, 60 lb. Acid Free.
