To send someone a black flower, of course represents death. Thinking on Poe and how much I have loved reading him over the years, I thought I'd represent him set apart, as he was from those around him. His dark, thrilling writing, his tragic and brilliant life are all here as a dark flower with a storm cloud above him. I used oil pastels for this piece- drawn on canson paper. 18 x 24"
