This Pyrography piece is based on the ghost story of La Lorona the weeping woman. The story as told to me when I was a child, was that a poor woman of the townfell in love with a wealthy man.So she drowned her children in the river in the hopes that if she were unencumbered with them, he would love her. Horrified, he rebuffed her, and despondent she drowned herself in the same river where she murdered her children. She haunts the waterways and rivers,crying for her lost children, and if you are not a good little boy or girl, she will carry you away to replace the ones she lost..... I decided to put her in calavera makeup.
