The Calendar Girl has become synonymous with sex appeal; fun, with a hint of nostalgia mixed in. I decided to pay homage to the calendars girls of years gone by, in a contemporary abstract style. Hindering their identity, while showing the effects of time, on their bodies. Giving this piece a modern, title “Kalender Gurls” was my way of, of nodding to the future calendar girls out there. Misspelling “Kalender” was my way of poking fun at the, still existing stereotype. In regards to pretty girls, being dumb. I like the idea that this piece encompasses the past, via the aging figures.
