This piece was painted one wintery day when our regular art group couldn't meet, so several of us met at Mary's house. Mary was always so good about having a bunch of us over to paint.. She set up this still life, I can not remember where she got the peaches in the winter, but there they were. I used an unusual paper, Morilla. I don't even know if it's still around. I painted as I so often do, closeup, and Mary painted everything in the room and on the table. We had nicknamed each other. I called her Vista Mary, and she called me Closeup Jo. We remain friends still, though we are at the North and South of the country. Looking at this piece which hangs in my kitchen still, brings back memories of a happy morning spent at Mary's house, complete with Critiques and lunch for all.
