This scary bat painting is a result of when my watercolors and oil pastels meet my alphabet rubber stamp set.
I depicted a vampire bat, because it seems so appropriately scary for Halloween. Vampire bats got their name because their food source is the blood of mammals, and they hunt at night.
My recent paintings have taken on a more abstract element and I am leaning towards multi-media, going beyond watercolor. I am by nature an artist who has traditionally painted in a realistic way, but over the years I have pushed myself to let go and have more fun. I have been doing some watercolors with drippy, abstract backgrounds and chose the classic Halloween colors of orange and purple for this painting.
