Title: Melvin on the Road
Many times my subjects have been the people closest to me at any given time willing or not. Good fortune has blessed me with willing friends and lovers to fill this passion in me, for that I am very grateful. Of course the term people includes all the animals too!
Many times when on the road shooting I take my greatest companion Melvin along. Here is a photograph of Melvin in the back of our Chevy S-10 pickup shot while heading back from the Grand Tetons at 60 MPH traveling across Western Washington. He knows how to live and goes from side to side right up against the cab wanting to see everything on either side of the truck. For this shot I used my Minolta 7d and simply aimed at the mirrior that was full of road grime from the trip. Later I simply croped and added a little contrast to the image.
In my humble opinion, a good image starts with a great subject and Melvin fills that requirement, then add some light, the rule of thirds, some S shaped lines and you are in business.
Good luck and keep shooting! Thanks for Viewing this piece!
