Art: Salem Stones by Artist Bella Abati
Taken at one of the many old burial grounds located in Salem, Massachusetts (aka witch city).

To me Graveyards look even more doom and gloom in B&W.

This is a common and sad site to see. These apparent twins or possibly triplets, (as you see a large area/heart on the left is missing) were only 16 months old when they died back in the 1600's. I also seen a grave belonging to a man "pressed" to death ...what does that look like? Do they mean accidentally crushed or did they have some sort of gadget to squash you in? I must do more research!

Ok, I'm back and have researched this "pressing"...

you lie on face up with a stone placed lovingly under your back,

then weight is added to you until your ribs crack and crush the air from your lungs.

The process can last a day or two.

We've come a long way.
