My entry for the artist made lanterns was made using tissue paper, flour mixed with water, some knitting wool yarn, and a bamboo hoop from an old 60's macrame plant holder. Oh and a large balloon was used in the production as well, only I can't claim to all the balloon fans out there that no harm was done to it. This was very simple, natural, and a great craft project my kids enjoyed learning how to do (they made their own as well, only on a smaller scale). This lantern is very large and will probably be hung on my patio (patio lanterns, does everyone remeber that song? :) I had my friends daughter stand next to the lantern in one photo to get a better idea of its size. When lit up it gives off more light then the picture captures, I just could not get a decent pic of the effect and had to give up. When lit indoors it covers the ceiling with stars which are lovely especially when you give the lantern a spin, at which time if you've had a few drinks you can lay down on the floor and pretend the earth is spinning at frightening speeds ...Me thinks its time for a patio party, and you're all invited!
