Art Show: The Art of the Art Journal

An art journal is not just about art. It's not just about words. An art journal is a synthesis of the two. It's about the creative process: combing images and colour and words on a page in a manner that pleases the creator. Each journal is a journey. Some have a focus, some are a purpose driven exploration and some are filled with pages of the impulse of a moment. Each art journal is a collection of expressions that are personal and unique to the artist that created it.

The Art of the Art Journal invites artists to share their art journals. Please feel free to show any part of your journal, from a page to the cover. If you have several pages you wish to showcase, we suggest you enter each one separately. Please remember that you have space for detail shots of your entry. This is a great way to show, not only detail, but the journal as a whole.

We strongly recommend all artists include in their statement information about why and how they chose to create their piece, as statements can enhance the experience for the online viewer. We also encourage you to include detail shots of your entries. This will allow the viewer to fully appreciate your work as small details can be lost in an online environment.
