Art: Dark Faith by Artist Tiffany Toland-Scott
I was quite young when I developed a severe case of wanderlust. I always felt that I never quite "fit in" with the community where I was born and raised, and at school I felt even more out of place. I wanted to go somewhere, anywhere else, convinced that someday I might find a place where I fit in perfectly, and I was desperate to get there. I came up with grand schemes to get myself out of the small town I lived in, everything from running away to trying to talk my family into uprooting after 20 years in the area and moving as far away as possible. I went to school several states away, and held on to unhealthy relationships under the impression that I might be rescued and taken away to some wonderful place where everyone would understand me (hence the title "Dark Faith"). I finally found my home, in another person, and as luck would have it his friends have made me feel quite welcome in their little circle. I still like impromptu road trips, travel and dream of living in another country, but I am starting to feel right at home where I am at long last. Painted with Winsor & Newton watercolors (Opera rose, Winsor violet, Payne's Grey, and Rose Dore), micron ink pen, W&N iridescent medium and metallic watercolor pencils for small accents using only a sable size 6 "cat's tongue" brush.
