Art: GODDESS HORIZON by Artist Sandy DeLuca
I thought it would be a challenge to create an offbeat and abstract horizon. I also wanted a Goddess be a part of the horizon. I don't normally paint landscapes or scenary without a figure or a face intertwined.

The Goddess is generic. Her name doesn't matter. She has many. The viewer may interpret her based on belief systems, imagination and feelings.

I took on a childlike approach when painting this piece. I watch my four year old granddaughter Gianna create with her fingers...and her heart. I tried to emulate her innocent passion and I remembered my first creations when I was her age.

I sketched the primary composition with felt tip pens and then began to add color. There are four layers of acrylics on this painting. Texture seemed an important aspect of this piece. Some of the paint was poured onto the paper and then sculpted into shapes with my fingers.
