I began this painting when the model took time out to rest and I took advantage of the situation. She was sitting there with her head down. I used acrylic paint and I painted the figure sitting on a chair. I used the warm red background to surround her in warmth and her cool blue dress gives off the feeling of serenity and patience as she waits. When I looked at the painting later it reminded me of my mother who was very genteel. So I added the hat and the feminine bench chair like the one that sat outside on our front porch when we lived in the south. I wanted her to look so proper as she sat there waiting, hiding her shy face and wanting to look like a lady.
Now it hangs in the waiting room of the office of Willi Danesh, MD, Folsom, CA
