Art: Okefenokee Armadillo by Artist Theodora Demetriades
One of the areas that I always wanted to see as a child was the Okefenooke swamp in Georgia. Lucky for me I married someone who also wanted to see this magical swamp. It truly is like no other place I have evern seen. We made it a must stop on the way to Florida. Both entrances into the swamp are fantastic. Folkston is on the western side of the swamp and Waycross is on the Eastern side. Each has a completly different feel and look. Folkston is where I saw my firs Armadillo in the wild. They know how to hide when they feel threatened...either curling up or digging in the soft sand and hiding much faster than you would think possible. This Watercolor is done on Arches 140 lb hot press watercolor paper using Winsor Newton and Sennlier watercolors.
