Art: The Tree Goddess by Artist Ruth Edward Anderson
A friend saw this root ball & base from Kelp washing up on the shore & climbed down the rocks in La Jolla, Ca. to get them for me.  She presented them to me & said perhaps she can use these in your art.  I had to clean them & let them sit outside for several months.  I keep looking at the ball of twigs holding it in my hands & it came to me that this was the womb & should have a goddess protecting mother's & children.

This piece is Mixed Media: Porcelain doll bust/head that I painted & put a metal cap on, several different size doll hands in porcelain, small plastic baby dolls, round metal rings, metal tubes, brown glass doll eyes.  It is a conceptual piece of art about myths of old when woman was seen as a Goddess.  She was the protector of all women & children.
