Art: Speedo Celebrates the 4th of July! by Artist Camille Meeker Turner
This was an exceptionally fun piece to create! All elements of this sculpture excluding the umbrella were carefully sculpted then cured as one unit, in polymer clay, painted in detail with acrylics and given a protective finish. When it came time to paint the coconut and citris slice, the line from an old song began to hound me (pardon the pun), "put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up", thus, the slice of lime! The Corgi's name became "Speedo" for obivous reasons. The umbrella was originally a coctail umbrella, but after several coats of white primer, acrylic paint and krylon crystal finish, it became a much sturdier verison of it's original self. It is approximately 50% collapsible. The top of the umbrella was painted in blocks of red and white with blue accents, the underside painted in blocks of blue and white with red accents. It is detatchable from the sculpture. This one of a kind would make a great addition to your Corgi collection that is sure to make you howl!
