"1976". This self portrait is in my "Faces in the Crowd" series. This piece refers to when I was in Grade School - my sister used to ice skate, and at this rink she would go to at Jantzen Beach, in Portland, Ore - they would turn this rink into a "Disco" dance occasionally. I remember I would dress up and wonder why no one would dance with me! Geesh, could it be that I was 10 years old! HAHA! These paintings have a lot of the white canvas showing through - much of the painting is hand rubbed. This piece has gold mica flake chip on the eye lids. The roughness of the application is intended to create a raw feeling.
