This large color pencil project started by watching how light rain drops into puddles while waiting for my bus to arrive. I drew a whole bunch of circles in varying sizes, some concentric all over the paper as quickly as I could and with little thought of placement. I then treated all of the overlap areas as areas to color in their own right, finding and emphasizing any interesting shapes or groups of shapes. It took about 9 months to complete this piece.
