This is a scene from Huntington Island State Park east of Beaufort, SC. Beach erosion is a common problem on barrier islands. Either the sand is being deposited or it is being taken away as in this case. Huntington Island has a fairly established forest of pines and palms but the beach is advancing into the grove and the trees are slowly being washed away.
