My entry into the Plein Air show, I painted this dogwood tree in my front yard from my porch. While studying the tree, I discovered a dove sitting on her nest amidst the leaves and branches. And you may think there isn't a cat in the photo of this dogwood in my front yard, but when I look closely, I still see my outside cat companion Kipling, my little spirit cat, who loved sitting under this tree, and who will always keep me company in my yard. The calligraphy to the right of the tree are the characters meaning "bird", "tree", and "spirit cat", and the painting is signed in my chinese name characters on the lower left and stamped with my original chinese seal.
