What a rare and wondrous treat to be in Ecola Park near Cannon Beach, Oregon, when a lazy summer day ends in a burst of purple, red, and gold.  As the sun slowly sinks, you cling to the beauty of the scene 'from Ecola at sunset'.

Artist comment:  What could be more enjoyable than watching a sunset fill the scene with vibrant evening color?  Well, for me, this was a magical moment.  With sketch book in hand, I hastily made notes and quick reference drawings, before turning once again to watch the awesome beauty unfold before me.  Later, in my studio, I painted this watercolor on 140# Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper.  The cool pinks, greens and purples of the sky, headlands and water, play up the deep rich brown in the foreground rocks.  As is my custom, I employed a "Z" composition to keep the viewer's eye moving easily through the picture.
