This is a green basilisk lizard surveying his rain forest territory in a South American jungle from a tree branch covered in bromeliad plants. These lizards can also run atop water on their hind feet for short distance and are rather omnivorous in their eating habits. I'd had this idea for several years, but couldn't get the painting to come together, until this past spring, when it suddenly started to work. It was included on the Cold-Blooded Creations show in Daytona Beach, Florida in summer 2019
