This was part of series called "Cassidy"; the image makes reference to the myth of the Phoenix, and also refers to the past and future of the western spirit. Painted 2000-2001, the main image (in black) was silk-screened and the then painted by hand so that each painting is an original, not a reproduction this painting has been sold
