"The presidents on Mt. Rushmore were selected on the basis of what each symbolized. George Washington represents the struggle for independence, Thomas Jefferson the idea of government by the people. Abraham Lincoln for his ideas on equality and the permanent union of the states, and Theodore Roosevelt for the 20th century role of the United States in world affairs and conservation." Few of the millions of visitors to Mt. Rushmore are aware that the monument is unfinished, and will never be completed as planned. Gutzon Borglum's plans called for the figures of the Presidents to be carved in detail to the waist. The Corgis have decided to take matters into their own hands....um....er...paws. Snacks were provided and they got the job done in record time. Something tells me this is not exactly what Mr. Borglum had in mind..... ^..^
