I had two watercolors that had parts that I liked very much, but they just didn't work. One included pen and ink drawing and the other had monoprinting. As I was looking at them trying to decide if they were worth saving, I realized that they belonged together - so I tore off the offending parts and collaged them together. Now they work beautifully as one work of art.
