- Mermaid Altered Box
A small wooden box, decorated inside and out in a fantasy ocean theme. The outside of the box features a hand drawn mermaid measuring less than 1". She is colored with Prismacolor pencils and shimmery acrylic paints; her hair is real wool. She sits in a layered watery scene, created with painted dryer sheets. papers, paint, glass craft beads, and a wee bit of glitter. This entire collage is sealed with layers of clear varnish, giving a subtle depth, much like looking into a fishtank. Inside, the top and bottom of this box is collaged with tiny hand drawn and painted fish and glass craft beads, sealed in the same fashion as the top of the box. The outside is painted with layers of acrylic paint,accented with bronze raised paint and a gold latch and hinges. This a functional work of art; many small treasures can be stashed within without hurting the collage. This oneof a kind piece is signed and dated on the bottom.
