This is my entry to the Aug. 2007 Nibblefest contest...the theme: illustrate a story or poem. This is my own story...a true story. This took place many years ago while I was working for a local veterinarian. One day after having to have her kitty put to sleep, a little red headed girl of 6 tearfully asked me if I thought kitties went to heaven...I said not only do they go to heaven, they are taken there by very special angels whose ONLY job is to accompany kitties to heaven! She seemed very happy to hear that but didn't seem completely satisfied with my answer, so I asked her if she had any other questions and she said yes...and looking very thoughtful and serious asked me if angels wore socks?! Well (as I stifled my giggles) I asked her why she wanted to know and she said she just wondered because their feet must get very cold flying around "up there"...so of course I had to tell her that I was sure they did wear socks to keep their feet warm and with that she appeared to be totally satisfied and went along her way. Only in the mind of a child. =^..^= I created this piece on an 8x10 inch stretched canvas...staple free sides are painted black so framing isn't necessary! I finished it with an acrylic varnish to protect and enhance the vibrant colors. This is an original Olga painting....not a print!
