I am a firm believer that, wherever there is dark, there is something light in beauty to counter it. This piece was created with that theory in mind. The poppy -- although sometimes noted for its "poisonous" byproducts -- has a very simplistic yet profound attraction for me. Within this painting, I have created a somewhat dark and apocolyptic background landscape, with the forefront calling attention to the beauty of 7 of these gorgeous red flowers.
