Kathy Hatt is a native of Arizona born in the small mining town of Miami. Not having any formal art training I have worked hard to develop my own style of expressing myself on canvas. I have learned by studying the technique of the Old Masters way of building color through many thin layers of glazes to create a highly detailed realistic composition and a feeling of the emotion. I work in my studio from reference photo's I take myself. My paintings of Apache and Navajo girls are painted with a enormous amount of detail to provide a glimpse into the subject's inner spirit to create a feeling of the motion inspired by the American Indian dance. In my landscapes I try to capture the uniqueness and beauty of every leaf, flower, blade of grass or needle on a pine tree.
