New, grateful and happy - 2/13/2007 3:20:14 PM

Hi All,

I've been perusing this site for a year and finally worked up the nerve to be more than a patron. This was my Xmas present to myself. I feel I've joined an exceptional group of artists.

Fairly new to both marketing my work online and the world of computers, but "reading" over your shoulders" has been quite helpful, both for techie stuff and new sites to check out.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully be an asset to this site.

Shelly

Thanx all for the welcome. I posted before I had all my ducks in a row, like how do I put all them spiffy little logos at the bottom of my entry like you guys. Guess I assumed EBSQ would automatically put a link to my portfolio page.

Amie Gillingham, the site director, has to make a manual change for you to see everything, and get the portfolio link thinger, etc.  It appears from your status (patron vs artist) she hasn't done that yet.  Sit tight, she will be along!

Maybe Amie just hasn't gotten it done it is automatic (at least a link to your portfolio page). Not sure about the rest of the links. Have you gotten a password to get to the rest of the forums?

At least you figured out your avatar. It took me like 2 months to do that

Thanx Green Biscuit.

As you can tell, patience is not one of my virtues. However, I do like the personal attention with the hands on approach.

Shelly, I'm glad you said something; it looks like your upgrade for the forums didn't save properly when we set up your account.  You should have full access now. Sorry about that!

Welcome to the forums!

Yup! Got the ol password. The avatar thingie was pretty simple, since I've had to do that on another site. Most of my computer skills have been either hit/miss or osmosis.

To be honest, I'm ready for a little more warmth myself. Where do you work in Toepekie. For a little while longer, I work at the Frameshop & Gallery at Fairlawn Plaza, that's if you in Lawrence are even the least bit interested in retail in this burg.

LOL, someone who understands the difference between Lawrence and Topeka.  I have been in your shop sometime ago, some very nice artwork there. Are you involved with the Art Guild? Are they not very close to where you work?
Sorry, to answer you question, I manage a retail RV dealership south of town. Not very artistic, but you know someday..............

I used to be involved with the guild, but opted out a couple of years ago. Too much internal struggle for my tastes. It's in the same mall the frameshop is in. I can't, in good conscience, recommend it for any one, but that's just my opinion.

Goodness, I've probably met you if you've been in. I've been at the frameshop for 5 years. I'm hoping, if I can get the puter stuff off the ground, that my tenure there will be done soon, at least as a framer. I've only been doing it for the last 25 years. I just want to create.

I honestly have the same opinion of the guild. I was juried into one show and couldn't take it  I believe my words to the director (and it's been a few years ago) were, "well if you don't change things you are always going to have the same old art and artists here, you need to open up a little bit"

Ok, sorry I have hogged your thread with talk about Topeka
