Lindi -> RE: Nudity and Paypal/Ebay? (9/29/2006 12:43:24 PM)

It's not nudity per se... It's the "Mature Audiences" category. If you list an item in that category, you can't accept PayPal as a payment method. You probably won't be listing your art in that category, though (unless it's out-and-out porn type stuff) so you should be fine.

does anyone know exactly why mature audiences can't take paypal?

Linda is right on 'mature' nature of SOME nudes.... BUT... some nude art that shows NO sexual behavior OR mentions NOTHING about sex... you can list it in art under 'nudes'.

As far as I know, you can list ANY nude art in the art category or in self-rep - it doesn't even have to be in 'nudes'. I've never listed mine in 'nudes'. Unless, like I said, your art involves intercourse and the like... If it is sexual in nature, then eBay would ask that it be moved to Mature Audiences. It's all spelled out in the eBay help section.

I think eBay (and PayPal) want to maintain the image of being a family-oriented company. They don't want to process payments for items that could potentially be "harmful" or even illegal. Porn, guns, etc.... I think that's probably why, but I am just guessing.
