Guest -> RE: Requests for Mentors here: (1/5/2006 4:00:44 PM)

I am unable to post any photos in my portfolio.  I've sat and read all the FAQ and had it handy to read as I completed the steps.  The files are JPEG and only around 20k.  I'm not trying to post the big front photo but some regular macro photographs.  I am not new to uploading and posting photos and I am very confused!  Thank you in advance for some hellllp![:(]

The message it gives:

no file-or an invalid file was sent, please try again....I tried again and again and then again some more.

We're in the middle of doing maintenance on the image database right now, as mentioned in the news announcement posted at the top of the forum (an easy thing to miss if you're not used to reading those) so some functionality is going to be down on and off until the defragmentation process and reupload to the main server is complete. If you can hold off updating your ArtCase right now, please do.

OH, OK, thanks you, I thought I was doing something wrong, I am still stumbling trying to find my way around the site, it's so huge!  [:D]

Is there another way enter some macro photographs in the show this month or will there be time later?  The phots are already uploaded on a website if they can be linked.

No, they can't be linked, but you have until the end of the month to enter the show, so no worries!

You don't need to know html for that; simply upload your "large identity image" under "identity images" in your profile tools and the site plunks it automatically in there for you.

Great to see you on the boards!

What are your mentoring needs: I so need help getting things going on Ebay.  I'm Madhatter5000 on Ebay and would appreciate help getting hits (let alone a bid) on my auction.

Oh boy.  I dropped my price down to 75.  I did have it at 50 but raised it when I read that power sellers start their auctions higher because it gives the impression of more valuable art -- like nicer cars go for more money.  So then I noticed that nobody was seeing my stuff because I wasn't a featured item, so I shelled out the cash to be a featured item and added an about me page which is linked back to EBSQ.  I can't go lower than 75 or I won't make anything, but at this point if I don't get a bid it will be a loss of  fees.  Does anyone actually make money selling on the other web sites?  This is driving me bananas.[>:]

y'all might want to take this discussion to the marketing section specifically for selling on eBay. we're unable to move individual posts from this thread to that section. [:D]

Not a problem, Lisa! We just don't do formal "mentoring" for eBay, although our members do share a lot of insight and help on this issue in the marketing section. And believe me, Terri has a lot of great suggestions!
