you can subscribe to both individual threads and whole forums. that way you can either watch a particular message you're interested in or a whole board. for example, i am subscribed to all of the official and tech related forums so i can better keep an eye on things and help folks out.
and you should only check the stuff you want to subscribe to, lol.
