I was going to post something in another forum, but thought twice about it because of privacy within the forums. I know that from ebsq, you cannot view or post to the forums unless you are logged in. However, when I do a google search of my username and the word 'forum, along with the name 'ebsq', I was able to read the posts when not actually logged in. It comes up as http://www.ebsqart.com/forum/#######/printable.htm. I didn't post the actual link, but can provide it. Any thoughts?

Are you sure the forum thread that showed up was private? Some of our forums are read-only for guests, but still visible, and others are truly private.

There are several that pop up in my search, I figured that the tech support and all forums were piblic, but the ones I was surprised about were from marketing and business. I was not logged in amd could see every post. It brings you to the forum as a guest. I took a photo, not sure if it helps. I can send it to you privately as it has other users in it.

The forums that are private are explicitly listed as such. The one for which you sent me a screen shot is not a private forum.

Ok, I see, I was unaware that that particular forum was public. I will have to be more mindful of what I post in the future.

Public in the sense that guests can see section titles and topics, which is what you gave me the screen shot for. They have no access to read actual threads, nor should google be able to crawl individual posts in the business section.

I feel like I'm not explaining well.

We have public forums and private forums. The private forums can't even be seen unless one is logged in AND has paid-member access.

With the exception of sections like tech support (which are read-only for guests) the rest of the forum sections are visible. Titles of individual posts within the subjects are visible. But guests have NO ACCESS to the actual posts without logging in.

All members-only private forums are clearly marked as such in the name of the forum itself. Examples being Coffee Talk, etc.
