Does the "Like" thing work? It's just odd, a couple of days ago I was checking out the hellebore show and my piece had 8 Likes. Today, I was checking out the show again to see if any new pieces had been added, and my piece now shows only 1 Like. I doubt people were running around UN-Liking it? It just seems odd that the number would change so much, in the wrong direction.

Does it matter? Are the Likes actually used for anything?

I think they're the Cloud Award.

Likes are in context, so your work, seen in your portfolio, might have a different number of likes than that same work seen in a show. FB recognizes the url, not the image that's on that page.

Regarding whether they work or not isn't up to us. If FB's API is being flaky (which happens) likes can disappear, not just on our site, but theirs. But those likes typically reappear once the issue resolves itself.

In the context of shows, likes are used for Cloud votes.

I don't have an answer, just wanted say that's kind of weird. I remember it having something like 8 too.

The API is likely misbehaving. But they tend to fix that stuff fairly quickly.

Okey dokey. Well I hope it gets fixed, since that 8 looked pretty good to me.

Just as an FYI, I didn't look at the piece in my portfolio, I was only looking at the entire show, seeing all the entries. And then I went back a couple days later and looked at the same page again, all of the entries at once... So I should have seen the same number. Seems like. Or higher would be okay, too, ha.

Thanks.

And just so I'm clear on the Cloud thingy, the award is given to the one that has the most Likes on the exhibit page??? Meaning, this page:
http://www.ebsqart.com/Art-Shows/Exhibits/FOTM-Hellebores/370/1/

...and not the number of Likes that you see if you click on each entry?

Oh wait, those numbers seem to match on every entry... except mine, which shows "1" on the exhibit page and "11" on the "details" page.... Ha.

Okay I just went back, and now my numbers match, too. They are both "1".

They should always both match, and I don't know where your likes went. I didn't do it, I promise! Or rather, I did, because I am one of the people who liked your piece!

Well maybe it will recover from its wonkiness in time.

Thanks Amie.

Linda, I had that happen once and I found that I wasn't signed into FB. I found when I signed onto FB all my likes in EBSQ were back. I don't "like" the way that works but there is no choice in the matter.

Try that and see if it works.

Nope, that's not it.

Also everyone else is seeing my "Likes" as only 1, when there were several more before. Thanks for trying, though!

Quick question--did you edit the title in any way? Because Zu isn't showing up as greyed out LIKE for me, and it should have. I know it was on FB as liked. I had a big ole conversation with my next door neighbour about it. If you edited the title, it changes the URL and makes your previous "likes" go away.

I'm not sure, sometimes I forget to put "ACEO" in the title, and then I go back in and do it. So maybe that's it! Very clever of you to think of that!

If I did do it, it was almost immediately, though. I think.
